Kitchen Fundamentals Workshop – Pestos & Pastes

Friends since university, Fern and Cook Folk founder Louisa Chapman-Andrews combine their skills to host a workshop designed to explore a wide range of ingredients and fundamental techniques for creating flavour-boosting pestos and pastes from around the world and help transform your day to day cooking.

With cooking demonstrations and plenty of hands on learning, you will spend four hours exploring the beauty of seasonal cooking; picking and cooking with ingredients from the Cook Folk garden, discovering the qualities of extra virgin olive oil with a special tasting session and getting inspiration for the long evenings of summer eating and entertaining ahead. The workshop will finish with a delicious lunch to enjoy the creations made on the day.

September is a beautiful month to visit Abruzzo, not only for the warm temperature and beautiful sunsets over the mountains, but it is a busy time for harvest. This region has many green wide open spaces and the land is rich and fertile producing an abundance of ingredients and a perfect backdrop for a foodie break away.


Fern has created a special retreat to immerse you into harvest time. A time in Italy that you can feel every household is busy picking the last of the vegetables, and packing, storing, pickling them up ready to be used over the winter. Fern has a small vegetable garden at fireflies and figs and will demonstrate some of the fantastic rituals she has experienced by living there over the last few years combined with her passion for food. She will also introduce you to local experts in their food and wine and take you on a small journey through the valley of Caprafico where olive trees and vines are a plenty.
